GothSounds is a music discovery platform dedicated to surfacing the best goth, darkwave, post-punk, industrial, and EBM tracks from across the internet. We built it because finding new music in these genres shouldn't require scrolling through dozens of subreddits and hoping the algorithm cooperates.
GothSounds monitors Reddit communities where people share dark and alternative music — subreddits like r/goth, r/darkwave, r/postpunk, r/industrialmusic, and r/ebm, among others. When a track gets upvoted and discussed, it surfaces here. We organize everything by genre, track engagement metrics like upvotes and comment counts, and make it easy to browse, search, and listen without leaving the site.
There's no recommendation algorithm deciding what you see. What rises to the top is determined by real people in real communities sharing music they care about. GothSounds just makes it easier to find.
GothSounds was created by Thomas Barnwell, a musician and developer based in the goth and darkwave scene. Thomas performs as Picture One, a project rooted in darkwave and post-punk. Building GothSounds came from a personal need — as both a listener and an artist in these communities, Thomas wanted a better way to discover what people were actually listening to and sharing.
This isn't a faceless aggregator. It's a project built by someone who lives in this music, plays this music, and wants to help others find more of it.
The goth and adjacent music scenes have always thrived on word of mouth — someone at a club tells you about a band, a friend sends you a Bandcamp link, a forum post leads you down a rabbit hole. GothSounds brings that same spirit online. We want to make it effortless for fans to discover new music, for smaller artists to get heard, and for these communities to keep growing.
